We specialise in wildlife management, accredited training, research & filming with crocodiles, and broader natural history with wildlife. Based in northern Australia, we are active internationally.

Television and filming

Big Gecko staff have overa 200 television and film credits to their name, and have earned a reputation for helping clients obtain groundbreaking footage while telling unique stories about crocodiles and other wildlife. We offer specialist filming facilities, logistics, on- and off-camera expertise, and stock footage.

Accredited Training

We offer training (accredited and non-accredited) based on our customized Cert. II in Remote Crocodile Management, designed for Australian and international rangers and wildlife managers. We also provide training in various aspects of wild and captive management of crocodiles.


Big Gecko staff each have over 20 years' experience in the study and management of wild crocodile populations, including expert consultancies for both governmental and non-governmental clients in northern Australia and internationally. Our approach is rigorous, scientific, and balances the needs of all stakeholders.

CrocBITE, the Worldwide Crocodilian Attack Database is an ongoing compilation of all reported attacks by any crocodilian species on a human. CrocBITE was created by Big Gecko in partnership with Charles Darwin University and other key contributors. It is available for analysis and educational purposes.
